The project road (Lufwanyama to Kankolonkolo 194,03 km) for the purposes of implementation of the works has been split in to 2 lots:
- Lot 1 from km 60,300 to km 155,250 and 2,9 kms (from Lufwanyama to Chipupushi and St Mary
Mission Road (length of lot 1 = 97,86 km);
- Lot 2 from km 155,250 to km 251,380 (from Chipupushi to Kankolonkolo) (length = 96,13 km).
The road and the surroundings characteristics are as following:
- Road Width: Ranging from the narrower 3,00 m to 9,00 m on other stretches.
- Pavement structure: the road lies on an in situ subgrade that has undergo to upraising in some sections but it essential follow the surroundings material of about
- Culverts, generally 600 m diameter pipes
- Bridges – At Km 61+200, 7.5m wide and 45m span
- Bridge – At Km 93+500, 45 m span, still
- H4 – Intersection; H19 – Intersection Junction between M8 – M18 – Kankalonkolo.
It is a dual carriageway road for most of the road length. The road is inclusive of major interchanges connecting it to other relevant roads and of main concrete bridges with different span length;
The project included the following Drainage Infrastructures: (i) Road surface drainage; (ii) Subsurface drainage (iii) Erosion protection measures for the slopes.
The project also included upgrading works under Double Bituminous Surface Treatment, and rehabilitation and
widening works of urban roads
