The construction of infrastructure to facilitate improved vehicular and pedestrian safety along the R61. The project entails the construction of dual carriageways, vehicular over and under passes, pedestrian bridges (12 structures in total), retaining walls (800m in length with a maximum height of 9m), intersection upgrades and formalised taxi ranks.

The project entails the project management of 11 contracts which include conventional construction projects, conventional and community development projects as well as community development projects.

The community development projects involve the appointing of a construction manager who then undertakes the design a construction supervision by training local small contractors to undertake the construction works.

The project entails the co-ordination and liaison with local communities (18 Chiefs), 4 different local Municipalities.

The project included the following Drainage Infrastructures: (i) Road surface drainage with the drainage of stormwater runoff; (ii) Subsurface drainage with the interception and disposal of groundwater flows; (iii) Erosion protection measures for the slopes.
