The Vittorio Veneto By-pass project stems from the need to free the town from heavy traffic, whose historic and residential center is now crossed in its entirety by the current S.S.51 of “Alemagna”, which from Cadore descends to Conegliano.
The typical section is the C1 type of the Italian regulations with a single bi-directional lane which can be divided into:
- Road with two lanes, one for each direction from 3.75 m, paved shoulders of 1.50 m on both sides;
The main work is the S. Augusta tunnel of about 1.500m.
The S. Augusta tunnel is the predominant part of this path, having an extension of 1498.3m, of which 1458.4m in natural tunnel (excavation area of 175 square meters with an equivalent diameter of about 15 meters).
The design comprises also the following works:
- Bridge Meschio Nord (20m precasted span)
- Bridge Meschio Sud (15m precased span)
- Artificial tunnel under Carso street
- bulkheads d1000 (heights up to 20 meters at the south entrance of the S.Augusta tunnel)
- Overpass Rindola Bassa street
- Rain showers and lifting systems
