The project roads form an essential part of the Gambian national network. The Lot 1 is part of the Trans Gambian highway and the Lot 2 constitute part of the South bank trunk road from West to East.

Lot1: Barra to Amdellai section (19.9 km) of the Trans West African Highway  connecting Banjul the capital of Gambia  with Senegal. The road is a dual carriageway highway inclusive of interchanges to connect it with other major roads. The road also includes one major bridge. The construction works consists of reconstruction and upgrading of the existing road by:

  • Widening of the road from 8.00 to 10.00m
  • Raising of the gradient
  • Reinforcement of the pavement (sub-base, base and Double layer surface treatment (cockle shells as aggregate)
  • Replacement and enlarging of the drainage structures
  • Introduction of a “town profile” in Barra with sidewalk

Lot2: Soma to Basse and  Velingara  (215,5 km) is the   major   section  of the South bank truck linking the capital Banjul and the provincial towns. Works on triple surface treatment roads.

The construction work consist of: maintenance and repair of the existing surface dressing, partial reinforcement of the pavement, maintenance and repair of the drainage system, introduction of a “town profile” in Bangsang with sidewalk, construction of a new Paka li Ba Bride.
